My passionate desire is to bring the dazzling beauty of glass into my clients’ homes, and for them to feel the joy I had in creating it.
My lifelong love affair with glass began while living on Kodiak Island in Alaska in the mid-70’s. My workspace was only a friend’s woodstove heated garage, and I had to go to a pizza parlor that was open until midnight to warm my hands. Because of the island’s isolation, I’m self-taught in every phase of glasswork. With no one telling me how things should be done, I escaped the mindset of the traditional glass artist. I believe this honed my originality.
I incorporate many techniques to make each piece unique - sandblasting, painting, fusing, multiple layers, plating, hot glass manipulation, slumping, and traditional Tiffany style, to name a few.
My designs are often whimsical and joyful. I use familiar images in an unfamiliar context to evoke amusement and sometimes laughter from the viewer.
I have a beautiful one-woman studio now, tucked alongside a creek in the mountains of Wyoming. My ongoing experimentation with warm and hot glass techniques continues to evolve, and my relationship with glass is thriving. I often crank up the rock and roll and give in to the urge to dance.
